- Over time, the rivalry over the trade routes and the demand for new land escalated and Egypt and Nubia got into a conflict, with the Egyptians being the victorious side and making a monopoly when it came to trade between sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa.
- The new land was desired in big part because the Nile River provided lot of fertile land for large scale agriculture, and with the growing population more and more food was needed.
