Compare the graph of the function, g(x)=(1)/(x-1)-3(, with the graph of its parent function. ) Which of the following options be
mars1129 [50]

Answers:

right 1, down 3 (these two answers only)

Step-by-step explanation:

There are two transformations going on. The first of which is the horizontal or x translation (aka shifting) where the 'x' turns into 'x-1'. This moves the xy axis 1 spot to the left, giving the illusion that the graph moves 1 unit to the right.

The "-3" at the end shifts the graph down 3 units. If g(x) = f(x) - 3, then g(x) is the output of f(x) but 3 less than that, which is why it shifts down 3 units.

Rachel enjoys exercising outdoors. Today she walked 5 2/3 miles in 2 2/3 hours. What is Rachel's unit walking rate in miles per
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

a) 2 1/8 miles per hour

b) 8/17 hours per mile

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the rate in mile per hour, divide miles by hours:

(5 2/3 mi)/(2 2/3 h) = (17/3 mi)/(8/3 h) = 17/8 mi/h = 2 1/8 mi/h

__

To find the rate in hours per mile, invert that number:

1/(17/8 mi/h) = 1/((17 mi)/(8 h)) = (8 h)/(17 mi) = 8/17 h/mi

What parts of the right triangle are used when applying the Pythagorean Theorem? How is it used to solve a right triangle?
Bogdan [553]
You use the equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2 and the parts include the hypotenuse which is across from the right angle(the diagonal part of the triangle) and this is also the c for the equation and the a and b are the two legs(the other lengths of the triangle) and to find one of these you plug what you know into the equation and go from there
