Read the passage from The American Plague. Adding to his frustration was the fact that very few official papers had made their w

ay to him at Mount Vernon. Washington was a stickler for orderly files that he could search at a moment's notice. This was the most important way he kept himself informed about the hundreds of things happening in the fledgling nation. Unfortunately, when the government clerks had panicked and dashed from Philadelphia, they had abandoned all papers and records in boarded-up houses. Which line from the passage can be defined as the cause? "Adding to his frustration was the fact that very few official papers had made their way to him at Mount Vernon." Answer:

A.Washington lacked the information he needed to govern effectively.

Explanation:

The following sentences provide more information about why that would bother him (he was a stickler for having files in his reach) and about what caused the lack of papers (clerks had abandoned them in their panic). The first line, however, provides the clearest cause of the problem at hand.

After each dream, gilgamesh says to enkidu, "dear friend, tell me, what does this mean?" what effect does this repetition have?
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

The answer to the question, what effect does this repetition have? regarding the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the repetition of the sentence from Gilgamesh to his friend, Enkidu: "dear friend, tell me, what does this mean?", would be, that it shows the level of dependency that Gilgamesh has on Enkidu for guidance and explanations to the dreams that he has; almost as if he needed Enkidu to supply the meanings, and help Gilgamesh comprehend, what is being given to him through his dreams.

Explanation:

"The Epic of Gilgamesh" is an epic poem from ancient Sumer, Mesopotamia, and it is one of the first written texts in human history. It revolves around the true historical figue of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian king of the land of Uruk, in 2100 BC. In this particular sentence, when Gilgamesh constantly requests that his friend Enkidu help him to decipher, and understand, the meanings behind his dreams, it shows that Gilgamesh sees Enkidu as a form of guide, maybe a spiritual one, in whom he trusts wholeheartedly, and without reserve. This repetition of the same sentence shows how dependent Gilgamesh is, and how much he trust his friend´s concept.
