What is Bakan’s conclusion with regard to his fifth and final proposition, "the term ‘music’ is inescapably tied to Western cult
netineya [11]

Answer and explanation:

Michael Bakan is an American ethnomusicologist and professor at Florida State University. In regards to the five (5) propositions exploring World Music, the fifth statement affirms:

"<em>The term ‘music’ is inescapably tied to Western culture and it’s assumptions</em>".

According to Bakan, not every culture give the same to music. In fact, some languages do not have the term "music" ins its vocabulary -Arabic, for instance. Then, even if most cultures worldwide have organized sounds that Western cultures consider music that does not imply that they consider music as such. Thus, the music itself, as we know it, is inherent from Western cultures.
