Answer:

France and Britain had a vast amount of territory in Africa. The French had gained control of mostly North Africa to Gabon to Morroco. This gave them valuable resources like gold but also natural resources to build up industry and manufacturing. The British had the most territory in Africa which went from Eygpt down to South Africa (excluding Congo which was Belgium territory.) The British had gained valuables such as diamonds from South African mines and also natural resources to improve their industry as well. They held a strategic position in Egypt as well called the Suez Canal which connected the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean.
