Which measurement is closest to 270 cm: 9ft, 680in. or 270 in.?
miv72 [106K]

The measurement 9 feet is closest to 270 centimeters.

What measure is equivalent to another measure?

In this problem we have a case of unit conversions, in which we must find what measure in a unit offers the best approximation to other represented in other unit. Please notice that a centimeter equals 25 / 762 feet and 50 / 127 inches. Now we proceed to calculate the equivalent quantities in feet and inches by simple rule of three:

x = 270 cm × (25 / 762 feet / cm)

x ≈ 8.858 feet

x = 270 cm × (50 / 127 inches / cm)

x ≈ 106.299 inches

The measurement 9 feet is closest to 270 centimeters.

Two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading east and the other west. The eastbound train travels at 100 miles per
storchak [24]

Solving for the elapsed time

distance traveled = (speed of first train + speed of second train) * elapsed time

280 miles = (95 mph + 105 mph) * elapsed time

280 miles = 200 mph * elapsed time

elapsed time = 280 miles / 200 mph

elapsed time = 1.4 hours

elapsed time = 1 hour and 24 minutes

It will take 1 hour and 24 minutes for the two trains to be 280 miles apart.

If the sin 90° is 1, then the cos ____ °= _____
lorasvet [3.4K]
That sentence is confusing...

That sentence is confusing...
There is no logical relationship between the prepositions.
You can put any angle and its cosine there.
You can put, for example:

Cos(90)=0 or Cos(0)=1... Both are correct options...

If your teacher wrote that, he doesn't know to write very good...

Good luck!
