The best way to make an effective arguments is to use one or more of three strategies: ethos, pathos, and logos. Logos uses logic and reasoning, pathos appeals to the emotions, and ethos appeals to character, like the credibility of the author. So think about each of these and then use your text to try to find which one or more the author uses.
