During President Madison's presidency, Britain ruled the seas, taking American ships and forcing the sailors to work as British servants upon their ships, killing Americans and defacing the National flag. Finally, President Madison had enough and sent his "war letter" to Congress which listed all of his reasons for wanting to declare war on Britain.
