The number of boys varies directly as the number of girls and inversely as the number of teachers. When there are 24 boys and 16
lidiya [134]
SO from what I did was...

Since 24 x 3 = 72 , I did the same to 16.

16 x 3 = 48

But because instead of their being 3 teachers there is 1... What I did is just was to divide 48 / 2 which gave me the answer of 24...

So what I think the answer is...

There are 72 boys, 24 girls, and 1 teacher...

Unless I am just dumb and it would be 48 girls, but I think I did it right.

I hope I was able to help out.

What is the slope? Simplify your answar and write it as a proper fraction, improper fraction, or intiger.
FrozenT [24]

Answer:

\displaystyle m = \frac{1}{2}

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Algebra</u>

Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

  1. Brackets
  2. Parenthesis
  3. Exponents
  4. Multiplication
  5. Division
  6. Addition
  7. Subtraction

<u>Algebra I</u>

Coordinate Planes

  • Reading a graph
  • Coordinates (x, y)
  • Slope Formula: \displaystyle m = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

<em>Identify points from graph.</em>

Point (20, 0)

Point (100, 40)

<u>Step 2: Find slope </u><em><u>m</u></em>

Simply plug in the 2 coordinates into the slope formula to find slope <em>m</em>

  1. Substitute in points [Slope Formula]:                                                              \displaystyle m = \frac{40 - 0}{100 - 20}
  2. [Order of Operations] Simplify:                                                                        \displaystyle m = \frac{40}{80}
  3. Simplify:                                                                                                             \displaystyle m = \frac{1}{2}

Use completely the square to solve for x in the equation (x+7)(x-9)=25
ra1l [238]
You mean "completing the square," don't you?  ;)

<span>(x+7)(x-9)=25 can be expanded:  x^2 - 9x + 7x - 63 + 25, which becomes

x^2 -2x = 38.

Let's now complete the square:

x^2 - 2x + (1)^2 - (1)^2 = 38, or    x^2 - 2x + 1 = 39

Rewrite that as                               (x-1)^2 = 39

Take the sqrt of both sides:              x-1 = plus or minus sqrt(39)

Write the roots:  x = 1+sqrt(39) and x = 1 = sqrt(39)         (answers)</span>
