Andrew Carnegie invested in the Bessemer process inn order to make the production of steel cheaper. The process, named after Henry Bessemer who was recognized as its developer in 1855 when he filed a patent for the process. However, historians have discovered that a similar process was used by the Chinese as early as 1075 AD. As a result of the use of the Bessemer process in his steel manufacturing, Carnegie was able to produce more steel, faster, and more cheaply, so he was able to make more money.
