I think it is an important part of U.S. democracy because it contributes the the U.S. in a major way. Congress has the power to declare war and to make the rules for governing the military. There are some disadvantages, though. The American Civil War of 1861-1865 was the period of greatest danger to civilian control of the military. As the war progressed, more and more people called for a military dictatorship. Military officers stayed away from politics and many even refused to vote, feeling that this would somehow influence their service.
Private companies and independent firms believe that the TVA
is a government-run monopoly selling electricity in bulk at low rates making it
difficult for them to compete with the TVA.
Apart from that their low rates enable them to be spared from taxation.
Generally speaking, it would be a "nation" that is the term that is is used for “a community of people that shares territory and a government”, since the other options usually reside within said country.
