Read the following sentence and choose the verb tense that should be used to translate it to Spanish.
elena55 [62]

Answer:

preterite tense: Conocí al alcalde de la ciudad.

Explanation:

In this case the preterite tense is used because meeting the mayor of the city was a one-time action. The sentence above is the direct translation of I met the mayor of the city. The verb conocer is conjugated in the first person preterite tense to reflect this event.

The imperfect form of conocer is used to describe things that someone already knew how to do or was already familiar with at some time in the past.

Rubén cree que la lección 3 es fácil. (ellos) You Answered Creen que la lección 3 es fácil.Creen que la lección 3 es fácil. corr
White raven [17]

Answer:

1. Ellos creen que la lección es fácil.

2. La gente come hamburguesas en la cafetería.

3. Yo aprendo a hablar, leer y escribir en la clase de español.

Explanation:

Before answering our questions we have to remember that in Spanish it ISN’T ALWAYS NECESSARY to express the subject of the sentence; thus we can say:

1. Yo comí pizza ayer (I ate pizza yesterday)

2. Comí pizza ayer (I ate pizza yesterday)

As we can see, in number 2 we have omitted the pronoun “yo”, and it is accepted accorded to the grammatical rules of Spanish. In our exercise we will be changing the subject of the sentences that we already have; to do it possible we will be focusing our attention to the VERB CONJUGATION because it is really important that the VERB and the SUBJECT match in GENRE (feminine/masculine) and NUMBER (Singular or plural).

Here there are our exercises with an EXPLICIT NOUN:

1. Ellos creen que la lección es fácil.

2. La gente come hamburguesas en la cafetería.

3. Yo aprendo a hablar, leer y escribir en la clase de español.

Here there are our exercises with an OMITED NOUN:

1. Creen que la lección es fácil.

2. La gente come hambuguesas en la cafetería (HERE THE NOUN IS OBLIGATORY)

3. Aprendo a hablar, leer y escribir en clase de español.
