In a reaction, 5.3g of Sodium Carbonate reacted with 6g of ethanoic acid. The products were 2.2g of CO2, 0.9g of water and 8.2g

of Sodium ethanoate. Show that these observations are in agreement with the law of conservation of mass, Sodium Carbonate + Ethanoic acid = Sodium ethanoate + Carbon dioxide + Water.

SOLUTION :

Law of conservation of Mass States that "Mass is neither created, nor destroyed".

→ Like Mass of Reactants = Mass of products.

REACTANTS :

 • Mass of Sodium Carbonate(given) = 5.3g

 • Mass of ethanoic acid(given)= 6g

The total mass of reactants:

= 5.3 + 6

= 11.3g

•Products are :

 • Mass of Carbon Dioxide = 2.2g

 • Mass of Water = 0.9g

 • Mass of Sodium ethanoate = 8.2g

The total mass of products is :

= 2.2 + 0.9 + 8.2

= 3.1 + 8.2

= 11.3g

Hence the, Mass of Reactants = Mass of products

∴ The given reaction is in agreement with the law of conservation.

From the balanced reaction below, when you have 3.33 moles of (NH4)2Cr2O7, how many grams of N2 will be produced
natima [27]

Answer:

m_{N_2}=93.3gN_2

Explanation:

Hello there!

In this case, for this stoichiometry-based problem, it is firstly necessary to realize that the decomposition of ammonium dichromate is given by:

(NH_4)_2Cr_2O_7(s)\rightarrow N_2(g)+4H_2O(l)+Cr_2O_3(s)

Thus, since the mole ratio between ammonium dichromate and the gaseous nitrogen (molar mass = 28.02 g/mol) is 1:1, we can compute the produced mass of the latter via stoichiometry as shown below:

m_{N_2}=3.33mol(NH_4)_2Cr_2O_7*\frac{1molN_2}{1mol(NH_4)_2Cr_2O_7}*\frac{28.01gN_2}{1molN_2}\\\\ m_{N_2}=93.3gN_2

Best regards!

Balance 6Sb +6Cl2– 6SbCl3
labwork [276]

Answer:

Balancing is making the number of atoms of each element same on both the sides (reactant and product side).

To find the number of atoms of each element we multiply coefficient and the subscript

For example 5 Ca_1 Cl_2 contains

5 × 1 = 5,Ca atoms and

5 × 2 = 10, Cl atoms

If there is a bracket in the chemical formula

For example 3Ca_3 (P_1 O_4 )_2 we multiply coefficient \times subscript \times number outside the bracket.......... to find the number of atoms

(Please note: 3 is the coefficient, and if there is no number given then 1 will be the coefficient )

So

3 × 3 = 9, Ca atoms

3 × 1 × 2 = 6, P atoms

3 × 4 × 2 = 24, O atoms are present.

So

Let us balance the equation given

1Sb +1Cl_2 > 1SbCl_3

(Unbalanced)

Reactant side - Number of atoms of each element - Product side

1 - Sb - 1

2 - Cl - 3

So we have on the product side odd number of Cl to convert to even number, multiply SbCl_3 by 2

The equation changes to

1Sb +1Cl_2> 2SbCl_3

Reactant side - Number of atoms of each element - Product side

1 - Sb - 2

2 - Cl - 6

Multiplying Sb by 2 and Cl_2

2Sb +3Cl_2> 2SbCl_3

The equation is balanced now!!!!

Reactant side - Number of atoms of each element - Product side

2 - Sb - 2

6 - Cl - 6

Balanced.

If 5.0 g of each reactant were used for the the following process, the limiting reactant would be: 2KMnO4 + 5Hg2Cl2 + 16HCl -&gt
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

The limiting reactant is Hg2Cl2.

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of each reactant = 5.0 grams

KMnO4 MM=158 g/mol

Hg2Cl2 MM=472.1 g/mol

HCl MM=36.5 g/mol

HgCl2 MM=271.5 g/mol

MnCl2 MM=125.8 g/mol

KCl MM=74.6 g/mol

H2O MM=18 g/mol)

Step 2: The balanced equation

2KMnO4 + 5Hg2Cl2 + 16HCl -> 10HgCl2 + 2MnCl2 + 2KCl + 8H2O

Step 3: Calculate moles

KMnO4 = 5.00 grams / 158 g/mol = 0.0316 mol

Hg2CL2 = 5.00 grams / 472.1 g/mol = 0.0106 mol

HCl = 5.00 grams / 36.5 g/mol = 0.137 mol

Step 3: Calculate limiting reactant

For 2 moles of KMno4 we need 5 moles of Hg2Cl2 and 16 moles of HCl

Hg2Cl2 has the smallest amount of moles.

For 5 moles Hg2Cl2 ( 0.0106 mol) we need 0.0106 / (5/2) = 0.00424 mol KMnO4

For 5 moles Hg2Cl2 we need (16/5) *0.0106 = 0.03392 moles of HCl

So the limiting reactant is Hg2Cl2.

Step 4: Calculate moles of product produced:

2*0.0106 = 0.0212 moles of HgCl2

(2/5) * 0.0106 = 0.00424 moles of MnCl2 and 0.00424 moles of KCl

(8/5) * 0.0106 = 0.01696 moles H2O

Penny bought a club moss plant for her water garden. She needs to know how tall the plant will grow so she knows how much space
Over [174]

The plant will grow less than 5 centimeters because it is a seedless, non-vascular plant. The correct option is B.

What are moss plants?

Moss plants are those plants that do contain seeds or flowering plants. They are non-vascular plants, and they maintain the moisture of the soils. They are very small plants.

Moss plants are small plants that grow in moist and humid conditions. They do not need so much sunlight. They will grow less than 5 centimeters and wet conditions.

Thus, the correct option is B. less than 5 centimeters because it is a non-vascular plant.
