I learned that on August 28, 1963, the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom occurred. More than 250,000 people came to a rally on the National Mall. At the end of the day, President John F. Kennedy met with their leaders at the White House.

It outlaws discrimination in public accommodations such as hotels, restaurants, and theaters. It allows the US Attorney to file suits to enforce desegregation in public schools.
