hroughout the year are fragrant with the sweetest aromas and yield an endless supply of fruits, many of which are good to taste and conducive to bodily health. The fields produce many herbs and flowers and most delicious and wholesome roots that I fancied myself near the Terrestrial Paradise. What shall we say of the multitude of birds and their plumes and colours and singing and their numbers and their beauty? I am unwilling to enlarge upon this description, because I doubt if I would be believed. . . . We saw so many . . . animals that I believe so many species could not have entered Noah’s ark. We saw many wild hogs, wild goats, stags and does, hares, and rabbits, but of domestic animals, not one.” —Amerigo Vespucci, as quoted in Eyewitness to History Which of these statements gives the main idea of this passage? a. South America has tall trees with sweet aromas and delicious fruit. b. The plants and animals of South America are numerous and unusual. c. The large numbers of plants makes it impossible for domestic animals to thrive. d. None of the South American animals were included on Noah’s ark.

How did cold war tensions affect american society
sammy [17]
The Cold War touched many aspects of American social and cultural life, from the civil rights movement to survivalism, from Hollywood to the universities. The nuclear threat—and the Communist menace lurking behind it—brought the National Defense Education Act, the interstate highway system, and growing mistrust of government by both liberals and conservatives. In ways sometimes blatant, sometimes subtle, the Cold War left its mark on activities ranging from art and poetry to movies and comic books. Sports events became particularly prominent venues for rivalry, beginning with the London Olympics in 1948 and peaking every fourth year thereafter. Visiting artists, traveling exhibitions, and other cultural exchanges, both formal and informal, sometimes helped ease Cold War tensions.

Why would an organized bus boycott put economic strain on the city?
Inessa [10]
It would of course cause bus attendance and revenue from bus tickets to drop significantly.
Usually boycotts are initiated in retaliation of something for example the removal of Rosa Parks for taking a white person’s seat. Boycott’s are really effective in sending a certain type of message across, such as wanting equality in bus seating, which later translated into the end of Jim Crow laws altogether. Another example is the Boycott of Goya Food products because the Goya Foods President who is of Latin origin, openly supported President Trump.

Laws apply to everyone.
