One of the most important changes was in the Chinese economy. A change of 180 grades in the economy supported the arrival of the foreign investor to improve the economic conditions of the country. There was also a period of political turmoil. Mao's successor, Hua Guofeng had to arrest Jiang Qing of the Gang of four, who was his bitter rival to calm things down in the Chinese political arena.
