Also ideas of new technologies,achievements in medical science get across the world through rivers and seas.
Even sometimes some special things that need to taken from one country to another with high security are taken through rivers.
There can be many more reasons for rivers being important for a country's economy.

Rivers can also be a tourist attraction. This will increase income of tourism companies, thereby, incresing the economy of the country.
