Answer:

The main responsibility of the Transportation Security Administration is to  provide police protection for airline passengers.

Explanation:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is an American federal agency within the Department of Homeland Security, serving public safety in transportation. It was created under the Aviation and Transportation Security Act 2001 and endorsed by the 107th Congress. It belonged until the end of February 2003 to the Department of Transport. There are currently 43,000 employees here whose transportation officers are armed with police powers.

The task of the TSA is the maintenance of public safety on highways, railways of all kinds, ports (sometimes also abroad) and 450 airports nationwide (the latter to a small extent by private security services as part of a so-called screening partnership program). The range of tasks includes activities in the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration, prohibited items and much more.
