This is completely true. There are many communities around the world who have done this for many reasons. Some simply want to protect their countries way of life and prevent American culture from seeping into theirs. Others see these fast-food chains as extremely dangerous due to their extremely unhealthy food that they offer. Other individuals/communities such as Tómas Tómasson have fought to protect small community businesses which would be completely bankrupt if such a fast-food chain were to move in. Since these fast-food chains have the monetary support to be able to undercut the community business' prices to the point where they must close down.
