A polis was a Greek _ with a fortified city.
yaroslaw [1]

Answer:

This instability was the context for the emergence of Greek city-states. Without a powerful, centralized state, smaller governing bodies created political order. One such type of governing body was the city-state or polis. Initially, the term polis referred to a fortified area or citadel which offered protection during times of war. Because of the relative safety these structures afforded, people flocked to them and set up communities and commercial centers. Over time, poleis—the plural of polis—became urban centers whose power and influence extended to the surrounding agricultural regions, which provided resources and paid taxes.

1.In a paragraph, analyze how the American Revolution changed colonial society. Discuss what changed and what remained the same.
Marianna [84]

Answer:

Many things drastically changed, whereas others did not. After the American revolution, the country had to face some serious changes. Certain things remained the same such as women's right and their stature in the society, many African-Americans were still used as slaves.

The things which did change were the style of government, a lot of laws regarding land owning and inheritance. British churches were breaking their British roots and made their own American clergy.

Explanation:

A lot of things changed when the Americans finally got their independence from the British. Americans could finally rule the way wanted. Al ot of things remained the same after the British left.

Women's right did not budge, women were still considered inferior and intellectually incapable to come at par with women. American-African slaves did no receive their freedom even though a lot of slaves were freed.

America wanted to be a changed state hence all the laws regarding inheritance and land owning were changed. Church clergy was changed from British to American.
