The Georgia's platform was created as an effort  by the southern states to combat norther states' effort to eradicate slavery. The southern states felt attacked. A large portion of their economy was reliant on slave labors. Abolishing slavery will most likely damage their economy.

Because of this, there was a growing hostility that the people in southern states felt toward the north. This is why contributed to the sectionalism.
