Answer:

Explanation:

Mr. Cunningham, a hard-working man who struggles each day to feed his family without using government assistance, typically leads a good life.  However, he is one of the men that shows up at the jail, with violent intents towards Tom Robinson.  He is one of many men from the town, who, if you see them in their everyday lives, seem normal, kind and decent.  They are upstanding citizens.  The "blind spots" that Atticus refers to is the fact that Mr. Cunningham, like many of the men with him, is blind to the fact that black people are their equals.  They are racist, and their racism makes them blind to any sort of rational thought when it comes to black people.  The blind spots that Mr. Cunningham has, leads him to the jail, to enact violence upon an innocent black man, just because he is black.  Cunningham would never do this to a white man--he is blind to white man's cruelty, and overly sensitive to any possible scandal involving a black man.  So, these men, who live normal lives of decency, turn into irrational violent men when it comes to race.

Atticus is different because he does not have these blind spots--he tends to see people based upon the "content of their characters," not upon the color of their skins, or the social circles that they fit into.  He knows Tom is innocent, and so will protect and defend him--it doesn't matter if he's black.  His blackness does not factor into the equation, whereas for the mob that shows up at the jail, the fact that Tom is black is the ONLY factor in the equation.  I hope that those thoughts help--good luck

Answer:

I think you should leave that exact answer because compound sentences can be read as separate sentences once the conjunction is removed and still make sense.

Explanation:

Conjunction - word used to link two sentences. For example, but, and, or, yet, so, etc.

Bake Sale Tale

Today is the day I'm going to the bake sale for school. I jumped out of bed and got dressed quicker then a jack rabbit. As I walked downstairs I could already smell fresh chocolate chip cookies that Mom has been making for the bake sale. "Good morning!" I yelled with excitement . "Good morning sweetie." she replied. I looked over her shoulder at the gooey , warm brownies. I wanted to grab one, mom interrupted"No, these are for later and there not quite done yet." So she put the brownies back into the oven and started to clean a little. Hours passed and the brownies where done or so I thought...

Mom grabbed her purse and the brownies and got into the car so I followed. Once we where at the bake sell you could smell so many various aroma's such as pumpkin pie, sweet apple cobbler, and much more. When we got to our table Mom put the brownies on the table, and people started to gather around. Mom quickly took off the lid, and then I saw the brownies amass. "Oh no!" I said in a quite tone. Mom looked at me and said "Sorry, I guess it's still not finished. It was warm and perfect before we left."

Then I quickly started to convey, I looked at everyone's sweets and they where perfect. Everyone enjoyed theres, why did this happen to me? This isn't fair! I went to the Principal which she was the one who started the bake sell. I said in a sad tone "Can you please end the bake sale?" she replied "Why?" I told her "Well my brownies are undercooked, and can't be eaten." For a few minutes I tried to mediate the principal, but it didn't work. Suddenly Mom ran up to me with a new box of brownies. I shouted "You got more brownies?" Mom replied "Yes, I did!" We went back to the table and placed the brownies down, and a bunch of people amass around our table buying a brownie. I quickly reverted from my depressed state to being filled with joy. I hovered over the brownies with hungry intent.

Remember you may give up, but anything can happen so just wait. Things happen for a pretty good reason.

Hope I helped!

Good Luck!
