How do you solve this 3x-4=3x-5
Basile [38]
Combine like terms so 3x + 3x= 6x
Then put the minus signs with the 4 and 5 and add them together so -4+ -5= -9
Now you have 6x=-9 So you divide by 6 on both sides canceling out 6
but 9 divided by 6 doesn't go into a specific number therefore it has no solution which is a possible answer

Amber can peel 10 1/2 potatoes in 1/3 of an hour. What is her unite rate
Alexxx [7]

Given that:

- Amber can peel this amount of potatoes:

10\frac{1}{2}\text{ }potatoes

- And she can peel them in this time:

\frac{1}{3}\text{ }hour

You can determine that the Unit Rate is the number of potatoes she can peel per hour.

Since the number of potatoes is given as a Mixed Number, you can convert it to an Improper Fraction as follows:

1. Multiply the Whole Number part by the denominator.

2. Add the Product to the numerator.

3. The denominator does not change.

Then:

10\frac{1}{2}=\frac{(10\cdot2)+1}{2}=\frac{20+1}{2}=\frac{21}{2}

Now you can set up that:

Unit\text{ }Rate=\frac{\frac{21}{2}\text{ }potatoes}{\frac{1}{3}\text{ }hour}

Solving the Division, you get:

\begin{gathered} Unit\text{ }Rate=\frac{21\cdot3}{2\cdot1}\frac{potatoes}{hour} \\  \\ Unit\text{ }Rate=\frac{63}{2}\frac{potatoes}{hour} \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is:

Unit\text{ }Rate=\frac{63}{2}\frac{potatoes}{hour}
