20. Read the paragraph below. What is the paragraph's main message? I learned to swim when I was six years old. My mother took m

e to the local pool and left me there for an hour every week. At first, I was worried that I would not pass the dass. I knew I would be embarrassed if I had to take it again the next summer. After a few weeks, though, I stopped worrying and started having fun with the other kids. The instructor let us play for a while every week after ou lesson. Before I knew it, I could swim halfway across the pool. Leaming to swim can be a very frightening experience. Leaming to swim is more fun when you have frends in the class. Learning to swim was easier than the writer thought it would be. Leaming to swim is something that everyone should do.

What makes huck determined to steal the gold back from the duke and the king?
Sophie [7]
The girls, Joanna and Mary Jane, have treated Huck very nicely, which is the reason why he decides to steal the gold back from the Duke and the King and give it back to them. He didn't want to swindle those kind girls any longer, which is why he wanted to help them rather than conceal those two criminals.

Percy Bysshe Shelley was an English romantic poet who wrote lyric poetry. In what ways does this excerpt from Shelley's “A Brida
evablogger [386]
In my opinion, the correct answer is A.)The poem uses figurative language and rhyme to express the speaker's ideas. Shelley uses metaphors, similes, imagery, sound devices such as sibilance, but those features are not typical only for the 19th-century lyric poetry. However, rhyme was used almost regularly. As for the B and C options, they can be applied to poetry from any age. The D option is not at all typical for the 19th-century poetry. Some poets used it (such as Wordsworth in Britain and Whitman in U.S.), but most of them didn't.

What is the most likely meaning of the metaphor in this sentence?
Fofino [41]

Answer:

C. The metaphor comparing the boy's legs to lead weights suggests

that he is moving slowly toward the house.

Explanation:

The boy's legs is compared to lead weights. Focus must be kept only on the "boy's legs to lead weights". This connotes that he must've have been unhappy, thus he was walking slowly, when figuratively said, that his legs were heavy causing the slow movement.
