But I knew by the going of the horse we had entered the water, which my guide told me was the hazardous river he had told me of; and he, riding up close to my side, bid me not fear-we should be over immediately. Tone: It is a dramatic and exciting tone that calls the attention of the reader and that sets and adventurous text.
Perspective: The journal reflects a narrative in first person, that means the writter wrote from her own experience in traveling. It is also written from the prespective of a women who is traveling when it wasn´t very common for a women to travel to the colonies because of the conditions.
