  8. Brought more than two thousand people to Texas- Stephen Austin: He is known as the father of Texas because he leads the second and final successful colonization of Texas in the year 1825. He brought about 300 families with him from the United States.
  9. Texan commander of the Alamo- Travis: He was the commander of the Republic of Texas during the battle of the Alamo and died during that battle.
