One example of how religion and science were a source of conflict in american society during the 1920's is the e<span>stablishment of anti-evolution laws passed in 1925 by Christian Fundamentalists. One such law was the Butler Act passed in Tennessee that banned any teacher in higher learning schools, whether private or public, from teaching the evolution theory which undermined the creation story taught by churches</span>
