The assassination/murder of the United States’ 16th president Abraham Lincoln took place on April 14, 1865. John Wilkes Booth (a professional stage actor) shot Lincoln while he was attending a play at Ford's Theatre. His security guard 'John Parker' left him alone at midnight. Seeing the opportunity at ten o'clock at night, John shot Lincoln from behind.
Major Henry Rathbone tried to catch John but could not succeed. Just after the incident, Lincoln was taken to the hospital where the hospital declared him dead in the next morning. John Wilkes Booth, who shot Lincoln, was caught ten days later of the incident from a farm in Virginia, where American soldiers killed him in an encounter.
