Answer:In Jack London’s "To Build a Fire," the external conflict of character versus nature is the most important. The man in the story struggles to keep himself alive in the extreme cold of the Yukon. Through the story, London shows how natural forces are indifferent to the survival of humans. He also shows how a human, when unprepared, is no match for nature:

It did not lead him to meditate upon his frailty as a creature of temperature, and upon man's frailty in general, able only to live within certain narrow limits of heat and cold; and from there on it did not lead him to the conjectural field of immortality and man's place in the universe.

Throughout the story, the man’s struggle against the cold drives the plot of the story forward. It affects the man’s ability to think clearly and problem-solve, and it decides his fate. There are instances in the story where the man ignores signs of trouble, such as when he comes across the old sled trail. However, his blind determination to join the others at the camp drives him on:

The furrow of the old sled-trail was plainly visible, but a dozen inches of snow covered the marks of the last runners. In a month no man had come up or down that silent creek. The man held steadily on. He was not much given to thinking, and just then particularly he had nothing to think about save that he would eat lunch at the forks and that at six o'clock he would be in camp with the boys.

This external conflict continues right up to the end of the story, when the man dies from the cold. Thus, the external conflict of character versus nature is most significant to the plot of the story.

1. In what ways do you still manage to due chores inside the house and handle the school works?
8090 [49]

Answer: 1. I have chores that I have to do at home. These included keeping my room clean and helping with yard work and I also help in others areas of the house when needed like helping set the table for diner or cleaning it off. I balance this with my school work by usually saving the larger jobs for the weekends or getting them done right away as soon as I get home so I have time to get my homework done.

2. School work is easy to get done when you listen to music or sometimes I might put a movie or a show on and watch a little of it as a reward when I read through a section or get so many problems that I need done. I set a goal and use it as a reward system. This helps me stay on task but often times I find that just listening to music really helps me get my homework done.

3. I start my day off pretty early because school is my number one priority right now. I like to get a shower when I can, brush my teeth, and feel clean. But, when it is the weekend I do like to sleep in a little bit.

4. Yeah, I do have a routine. I try to find my favorite tune to listen to and I usually go to a spot in my house where I can't be bothered. Sometimes If I need help though I will ask for it.

5. If there is a lot of homework I try and do what needs to be done first. If I can get anything quick out of the way I will generally go for that. It makes the most sense to do that. Reading long books or papers take the most time so I tend to save those for last or maybe even math problems.

6. I would like to think it is but sometimes it depends if I have a lot of homework or if I am stressing over a big assignment. Also, I stay up a little later on the weekends which probably doesn't help my schedule for the weekdays.

Why does Wiesel end his speech with several questions?
klasskru [66]

Answer: The questions leave the audience to come up with their own answers. However, the way the questions are asked he is guiding the audience to have similar answers. If we look at the other options, it is almost easier to eliminate the other options to verify that we are correct. Option A talks about a warm comfortable feeling. However, Wiesel does not want to leave the audience feeling warm and comfortable. He wants the audience to have a reaction to the horrors and injustices being done in the world. He no longer wants people to be indifferent to human suffering. Option B mentions are religious plea...there is no religion in his questions. Option C is about him directly stating his opinion. Questions are not direct statements...this is wrong. Option D is the only valid choice.
