This is a common type of problem you will get a lot in middle school with some steps I’ll walk you through.

1. To start off, go ahead and point that coordinate the line needs to pass through with an x value of -2 and a y value of -4.
2. Then, look at your slope: -1/2. The - automatically tells you that your slope is going to be from a higher left to a lower right.
3. The -1/2 in your slope tells you that for every 1 unit drop in y value, move your x along to the right by 2 units.
4. With this rule, apply it to the dot you just drew. For instance, one point would be (0,-5) because x increased two as y decreased by one.
5. You will eventually have a series of dots that you can draw the line through. You can even feel free to erase all the little dots you drew (except -2,-4) if you want the line to look nicer.
