In what ways did Mikhail Gorbachev change the Soviet Union? Select all that apply.
wolverine [178]

Select these as the answers that apply:

... He began to end strict censorship of ideas.

... He started to support reforms that weren't related to the communist system.

... He began to pursue trade and arm agreements with the West.

Mikhail Gorbachev began his new strategies in the Soviet Union in 1985. He proposed perestroika (restructuring) and glasnost (openness). These seemed like policies that leaned in the direction of Western ways of economics and politics, rather than being related to the traditional communist system. Perestroika meant allowing some measure of private enterprise in the Soviet Union. Glasnost meant allowing a bit of freedom in regard to speech and publication. Gorbachev also developed a relationship with US president Ronald Reagan and worked on arms agreements with the West, as well as pursuing trade opportunities.

In no less than four sentences, discuss at least three reasons that African nationalism grew in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
Marysya12 [62]

After the II war, the African Nationalism emerged late 1940s and early 1950s because three main reasons: The first one was that nearly two million African soldiers who were part of the II war (1939-1945) were discontent after coming back to the colonial states to be treated as slaves. The second reason was that Kwame Nkrumah father of the Pan Africanism, influenced the African Nationalist leaders against the colonial rules to reach freedom and finally the third reason was to maintain the unity among them after the rejection of colonies which oppressed African Nationalist.
