1. Why was the Battle of Gettysburg a significant battle? *
BARSIC [14]

Answer:

I was the largest battle fought on American Soil

b and D are not correct  is not correct and it did not end the war

Explanation:

The Battle of Gettysburg fought on July 1–3, 1863, was the turning point of the Civil War for one main reason: Robert E. Lee's plan to invade the North and force an immediate end to the war failed. ... The collision of two great armies at Gettysburg put an end to that audacious plan.

The war ended in Spring, 1865. Robert E. Lee surrendered the last major Confederate army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865. The last battle was fought at Palmito Ranch, Texas, on May 13, 1865 two years after the Battle of Gettysburg
