When Odysseus begs to be untied, the men are to tie him tighter and muffle the sound of his begging. Odysseus's plan to prevent his men from hearing the sirens' song is to carve a cake of beeswax into bits and roll them until soft. He then places the wax “thick on their ears” (977; line 713).

Which literary device is used in the title of Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest?A.) hyperbole B.)oxymoron C.)pu
Simora [160]
I’d say hyperbole. Hyperbole is an exaggeration, and “importance” is being “earnest”. It’s like saying it twice. It’s meant to seem big and important. The others do not seem to fit the description of that phrase.

Pun Simile-
Figure of speech in which one thing is compared to another. (a pun simile is used in a humorous way, usually)

Metaphor
An analogy between two objects or ideas, conveyed by the use of a word instead of another.

Oxymoron-
a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.
