Even though the gambling laws of the state prohibit gambling on professional sports games, the defendant placed a bet with a boo

kie on the outcome of a football game. There was a disputed call near the end of the game that resulted in the defendant losing the bet. However, later films showed that in fact the call should have been for the defendant's team, which would have changed the outcome. The bookie refused to pay the bet to the defendant. Later that night, the defendant broke into the bookie's home and took the amount he would have won. What is the defendant's best defense to a charge of common law burglary

Answer: He lacked the specific intent necessary for burglary because he believed that the bookie owed him the money.

Explanation:

Gambling can turn out sour sometimes, especially when results come out controversial. Although the defendant is not supposed to break into someone's home but according to the common law burglary he has some defense to make for himself which is he believed that the bookie owed him the money that's what he based his action for. The definition of common law burglary requires that the defendant break into the dwelling place with the intent to commit a felony. He would claim he didn't destroy any item or take more than what He was owed but just stocked to taking the money he was owed.

Describe three reasons why the Chinese closed their doors to the world. It's important and due today!
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

  • They pretty much had all they needed resource-wise in the country, trade was not a prerogative and even though Zheng He did go out exploring they were not interested in colonies or mercantilism.
  • Mercantilism was pretty much frowned upon within the Confucian system, merchants did not produce goods they moved them around and made money which made them a drain on the system. The few who were enterprising and maybe came up with some new product might often find themselves in competition from the government
  • The Emperor system considered itself the center of the world, the focus of the heavens. When outsiders came they gave tribute and fealty to the Emperor, so the outside world came to them, they did not need to go out

sweet [91]

Answer:

In my personal opinion, the Quebecois form a different historical nationality from that of the Anglo-Canadians, fundamentally because they come from different historical contexts, and have different cultures, languages and even religions.

Thus, the Quebecois come from the first French settlers in Canada, they speak French and are mostly Catholic, while the Anglo-Canadians were arriving later, they speak English and are mostly Protestant.

Therefore, these differences mean that both groups, although they coexist in harmony, can be considered as different nationalities within the same country.
