Water tank is being filled with water. Before water is pumped in, the water level in the tank is 12 inches high. After 20 minute

s, the water level is 54 inches high.
If t represents the time in minutes and h represents the water level, which of the following equations can be used to model this situation?
A. H = 42 + 12t
B. H = 2.1t - 12
C. H = 12t + 2.1
D. H = 2.1t + 12

Answer:

D. H = 2.1t + 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume the t be the time in minutes

And h be the water level

Now before reaching to the equation that need to be used

before this, determine the inches per minute i.e.

= 54 inches - 12 inches

= 42 inches in 20 minutes.

Now for per minute, it would be

= 42 inches ÷ 20 minutes

= 2.1 inches per minute

After this, multiply the inches per minute with the minutes t and add the sale to the beginning value i.e. 12

So the equation is

H = 2.1t + 12

hence, the last option is correct

It takes two apples to make an apple pie. If a chef bought nine apples, the last pie
defon

Hey!

-------------------------------------------------

If a chef bought 9 apples and each pie takes 2 apples then all we have to do is divide.

9 / 2 = 4.5

4 full pies can be made with 9 apples.

4 x 2 = 8 (apples were used to make 4 pies.)

9 - 8 = 1 (apple remaining)

If one pie needs 2 apples, subtract.

2 - 1 = 1 (pies the chef needs to make the last one)

-------------------------------------------------

Answer: The last pie would need 1 more apple.

One-stray Problem Solving
anygoal [31]
A) 5000 m²
b) A(x) = x(200 -2x)
c) 0 < x < 100
Step-by-step explanation:
b) The remaining fence, after the two sides of length x are fenced, is 200-2x. That is the length of the side parallel to the building. The product of the lengths parallel and perpendicular to the building is the area of the playground:
A(x) = x(200 -2x)
__
a) A(50) = 50(200 -2·50) = 50·100 = 5000 . . . . m²
__
c) The equation makes no sense if either length (x or 200-2x) is negative, so a reasonable domain is (0, 100). For x=0 or x=100, the playground area is zero, so we're not concerned with those cases, either. Those endpoints could be included in the domain if you like.

The human body has a normal temperature of 98.6°F. Doctors will get worried if a sick patient has a temperature that varies from
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

|T- 98.6| \geq 3

And in order to solve this we have two possibilities:

Solution 1

T -98.6 \leq -3

And solving for T we got:

T \leq 98.6- 3

T\leq 95.6

Solution 2

And the other options would be:

T -98.6 \geq 3

T \geq 101.6

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we can define the variable os interest T as the real temperature and we know that if we are 3 F more than the value of 98.6 we will be unhealthy so we can set up the following equation:

|T- 98.6| \geq 3

And in order to solve this we have two possibilities:

Solution 1

T -98.6 \leq -3

And solving for T we got:

T \leq 98.6- 3

T\leq 95.6

Solution 2

And the other options would be:

T -98.6 \geq 3

T \geq 101.6
