Mystery in Lines 14

Explanation:

Mystery: The element of mystery in Lines 14 is the fact that the Uncle wore white clothes every day of his life. That statement puts the reader in a state of mind where they have to try to imagine the possbility of that happening.

Tension or surprise:  In Lines 28 to 33 there is Tension at the hint that Uncle might have died. Because in lines 30 the poet stays he never came back from the trip he took to the old country. The old country being a metaphoric representation or imagery of the afterlife.

The tension is doused momentarily in lines 34 and 35 where the poet says Uncle follow them to the sidewalk bidding them goodbye in such a way that communicated that he was strong enough to journey on his own.
