Agriculture. Though indigo and rice were also grown, the demand for tobacco and the ease with which it grew turned tobacco into the largest cash crop for the Chesapeake and southern colonies.

In pre-WW2 Japanese culture, there existed a strict social hierarchy. One of the lowest things one could do in said hierarchy, is surrender. This was seen as dishonorable, and lowered one’s potion to lower than dogs. Any sign of disobedience and hesitation to the captor by the prisoner was seen as disrespectful, and accordingly.

On the 11th of November 1918, the Allies signed an Armistice with Germany to end the war. This included the subdivision of the German territories between the Allies countries. Unfortunatly Italy did not receive the lands they was promised when they entered the war. This was later called by Gabriele D'annunzio a 'Mutilated Victory'.
