None of the other answers are nearly correct. D - they never forced anyone to follow English law. C - neither did they force everyone to convert to Islam, instead, they allowed for other religions in their empire as well. B - the Ottoman Empire is we known for its vieolent campaign through the Balkans, so this answer isn't correct either.
