This was known as the "iron curtain." It was a term used to describe the boundary in Europe, which formed at the end of WWII and lasted until the ending of the Cold War.
The American colonies of 1760, did many Americans consider themselves British? Did they consider themselves Englishmen, even if born in the colonies? Also, am I right in the impression that a resident of Massachusetts would be the least likely to identify as British? That they were the most independent minded, even in 1760?
The best known system is the French Ancien Régime (Old Regime), a three-estate system used until the French Revolution (1789–1799). Monarchy was for the king and the queen and this system was made up of clergy (the First Estate), nobles (the SecondEstate), and peasants and bourgeoisie(the Third Estate).
