I looked around to see the Munchkins desperately running away, they screamed and rushed into their homes. The summer sun felt hot on my skin. “I thought you said she was dead,” said a girl I’ve never seen before, “that was her sister the Wicked Witch of the East that is the Wicked Witch of the West, she worse than the other one was,” said Glinda. I was in front of a house that had been dropped on my sister only showing her feet. “Who killed my sister,” I growled in a low tone as I stepped closer to Glinda and the unknown girl with two curled pigtails and a little brown dog. “Who killed the wicked witch of the east?” I said louder. The girl stepped back with a feared expression “was it you?” “No… no it was an accident, I didn’t mean to kill anybody!” the girl said, “Well my little pretty, I can cause accidents too!” I was ready to lunge at her but Glinda interrupted, “Aren’t you forgetting the ruby slippers?” Glinda said with a menacing smile. I had wanted those slippers for years now, it has powers greater than the oz. What if I finally am able to get those shoes? I thought for a second. “The slippers, yes the slippers” I crept back to the house that had flatted my sister but as I got close to her feet the ruby slippers disappeared and her legs with stripped stocking shriveled up and under the house. “They’re gone!” I said shocked, “The ruby slippers, what have you done with them?” I stomped back near the two, “give them back to me or I’ll-“ “it’s too late,” Glinda interrupted “there they are and there they’ll stay.” Glinda said gesturing her wand to the auburn-haired girl’s feet. The feet that had MY slippers in them! “Give me back my slippers, I’m the only one who knows how to use them. There no use to you, give them back.” “Keep tight inside of them, their magic must be very powerful, or she wouldn’t want them so badly.” Glinda whispered to the girl, “You stay out of this Glinda or I’ll fix you as well!” Glinda laughed mockingly, “Rubbish, you have no power here, be gone before someone drops a house on you too!” I ducked in fear, “Very well I’ll find my time.” I turned to the girl “And as for you my fine lady, it's true I can’t attend you here and now as I like, but just try to stay out of my way, just try. I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!” I was ready to leave when “wait!” the girl shouted at to me. I turned, “I just want to go home, my names Dorothy and I believe even the wickedest of the witched deserves something to remind her of her sister.” I was wondering where she was going with this. “If you help me find the wizard I’m sure he can get the slippers off my feet and I can go home too!” the idea isn’t half bad I thought. “Very well then,” I said, “let’s find the wizard”

Read these lines from "Of Cannibals" and answer the question. . . . clever people observe more things and more curiously, but th
Fittoniya [83]

The  skepticism is characterized by an atittude of doubting, questioning and/or not believing something or someone.

As we can see in “Of Cannibals”, Montaigned used skepticism to justify his arguments on his opinion about clever people. For instance:

1) “They never show you things as they are” – The author also said that clever people “cannot help altering history a little”, and then he says that they never show things as they really are; meaning that since he believes that clever people tend to change facts and information, the consequence of it is that their speech isn’t 100% honest. Therefore, he is skeptical when it comes to the true nature of those facts.

2) (...) And to give credence to their judgement and attract you to it, they are prone to add something to the matter, to strecht it out or amplify it”  – Now the author claims that clever people try to convince others by adding details or facts to what actually happened. He believes that once the fact is amplified, it gets more attention and credit. In this case, he is being skeptical in regards to judgements and opinions, suggesting that clever people aren’t really honest in their judgements as they want others to “buy their ideas” and because of it they will tell things in a way that will persuade people to do what they want and believe what they say.

Line twelve- during this time it was getting more and more intense
line 13- we dont know when the war will end
line14- use of melancholy to express real sorry and make the effect more powerful
line 17- use violence in the prescence of silence to show that everyone is devestated and that are no real words to describe the pain that the war is causing
line 18- the air is deadly as well, not quite literally but to give an image of what it is like to be there.
23-25- They are cold, dying, and anything normally taken as beautiful like snow now resembles bad memories and dark times, something which was once great has been viewed differently in this senario

Friar Lawrence concocted three plans during the play. Describe each of the plans.
Vinil7 [7]

Hello. You did not mention the text to which this question refers, which makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, when searching for your question, I found a question exactly the same as yours that showed that this question is referring to Friar Lawrence who is a character in the play "Romeo and Juliet" written by Shakespeare. So, I hope the answer below can help you.

As you may already know, Romeo and Juliet were in love, but they could not be together, as their family was an enemy of each other and would never accept their relationship. Friar Lawrence decided to help them live this love and for that reason, he set up three plans during the story.

  1. The first plan was to marry Romeo and Juliet hidden from their families. Friar would perform the ceremony and this would prevent families from marrying either of them with other people, or trying to separate them.
  2. The second plan involved a potion that Juliet should drink and that would help her pretend she was dead. This would allow her to escape with Romeo, without her family trying to stop her, and thus, live with her husband in peace.
  3. The third plan involved sending a letter to Romeo, to let him know that Juliet was not really dead, but she was waiting for him so that she could leave the city with him. Unfortunately, this was the only plan that did not work. Romeo did not receive the letter and received the news that Juliet was really dead, which caused the story to end tragically with the death of both him and her.
