Find the distance between A(0, 1) and B(–4, 6) to the nearest tenth.
Naddika [18.5K]
Distance of two points can be calculaetd using formula:
d= \sqrt{ ( x_{2}- x_{1}  )^{2}+ ( y_{2}- y_{1}  )^{2} }
Here x1 and y1 are coordinates of point A and x2 and y2 are coordinates of point B.

Now we insert numbers into formula:
d= \sqrt{ (-4- 0)^{2}+( 6- 1 )^{2} } = \sqrt{16+25} = \sqrt{41} =6.4

How would marine researchers know where to look for hydro thermal vent sites? How could they be certain they have found a vent
monitta

Answer and Explanation:

A hydro-thermal vent can be defined as a crevice on the floor of the sea from which water heated by geothermal energy erupts or issues. These vents are common near places that are  volcanically active, areas where the movement of the tectonic plates is away from the spreading centers, hotspots, ocean basins,etc.

Marine researchers know the sites for hydro-thermal vents by computing the exact location of the place of active volcanic sites which provides the movement to the the tectonic plates which in turn produces gas and undergo some thermal processes making it easily detectable for the location of thermal vent sites.

They can be sure of finding a vent by calculating the activeness of active volcanic sites in the hydrological places.
