Add the top/first base plus the second/bottom base together.
Multiply that with the height.
After, divide that by two.
3 cm + 6 cm = 9 cm
9 cm x 4 cm = 36 cm
36 cm /2 = 18 cm
Area of trapezoid: 18 cm^2
So using the given information about (original) larger area of trapezoid being 72 cm^2,,,
,,,we would get 1/4 if we divide 18/72.
(scale factor)^2 = (1/4)
= 1/2
