When he read it (fr by this time he had taught himself to read and write and even speak), he learned that Victor had hated him. The despair that he felt in seeing his creation only led the monster feel more hatred in knowing that even his own creator doesn't want him. Thus, this began the hatred he began to maintain for his creator/father Victor Frankenstein.
