The answer is family acceptance.

LGBT young people are at high risk of bullying and peer rejection due to societal prejudices, they are also affected by prior vulnerabilities. However the main cause of health and mental health problems with coming out is linked to family acceptance. Actual or anticipated family acceptance or rejection of LGBT youth causes high levels of stress which can affect the body physically and mentally. Youth that come from religious households are at high risk of being rejected by their families. Any LGBT youth that is rejected by their families can end up alone and struggling to survive without family support, this can lead to depression, anxiety, drug abuse, self harm and so forth.

Answer:

It is most likely family acceptance.

Explanation:

Here is why. As a minor who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community I and many others I know are terrified to tell our parents. There is the constant fear of family the people many love most rejecting you. If you live in a religious family (as I do) there is the fear of them hating you or no longer considering you as their child. Another thing to add on is the fear of being kicked out of the house. That is a terrifying thought for me and many others I know. I personally know a girl who nearly got sent to another country to her Columbian family where they would beat her until she was 'straight' because she was dating a girl. She worked things out and it seemed to be more of her dad who she lives a decent ways away from since she lives with her mom, but I know it is still hard for her. So that is why we are scared. Scared of losing our family because of who we are whether that be gay, lesbian, bi, trans, pan, ace, demi, trans, etc. That causes many of us a lot of anxiety I think and just damages on the inside because that fear is horrifying. Also internalized homophobia or transphobia etc. is a factor too. Because accepting yourself is really hard too and is difficult. Peer rejection plays into this too, but I personal think that for myself and many others I know that family acceptance is the hardest part.
