Zach read a book for 10 minutes every weekend in the first month, 20 minutes in the second month, 40 minutes in the third month,

and 80 minutes in the fourth month.
Victoria read a book for 35 minutes every weekend in the first month, 50 minutes in the second month, 65 minutes in the third month, and 80 minutes in the fourth month.

Which statement best describes the methods used by Zach and Victoria to increase the time they spent reading

A) Zach's method is linear because the number of minutes increased by an equal factor every month.
B) Victoria's method is linear because the number of minutes increased by an equal number every month.
C) Both Victoria's and Zach's methods are exponential because the number of minutes increased by an equal factor every month.
D) Both Victoria's and Zach's methods are exponential because the number of minutes increased by an equal number every month.

The answer is B.

This is because A is incorrect, Zach number of minutes didnt increase by an equal factor every month.

C and D are incorrect, Victoria's methods aren't exponential, but Zach's are.

So that leaves the only reasonable answer which is B.

Find the inverse of the function. State any restrictions on the domain.<br><br> f(x) = x^2 + 9
Bogdan [553]

The function is not invertible if you think of it as

f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}

because it is not injective: f(x)=f(-x)

So, if we restrict the domain to the positive numbers only:

f:\mathbb{R^+}\to\mathbb{R}

Note that the range is actually [9,\infty), so we can be more precise and write

f:\mathbb{R^+}\to[9,\infty)

To find the inverse, we solve the expression for x:

y=x^2+9 \iff y-9=x^2 \iff x=\pm\sqrt{y-9}

But since we restricted to positive values of x, the inverse is

x=\sqrt{y-9}

Demitri's parents begin saving for his college fund when Demitri is 10 years old. They invest $5,000 in an account that earns 1.
qaws [65]

Answer:

yes

Step-by-step explanation:

A = P(1 + r)^t

A = total amount

P = principal

r = interest rate, as a decimal

t = time, in years

A = 5000·[(1 + .012)^8]

A = 5000(1.1001)

A = 5,500.65

amount of investment after 8 years = $5,500.65

two years of community college = $5,400

Which of the following numbers between -3/4 and 5/8?
irga5000 [103]
Answer is B

Explanation:
Divide -3/4 which equals -0.75
Then divide 5/8 which equals 0.625
Now look at the answers and divide the ones that are in fractions to get a decimal
The answer is B because -1/2 = -0.5 and that is greater than -0.75 and less than 0.625
Sounds confusing sorry
