Du Bois was an Activist, who fought for civil rights. He was a member of the National Asociation for advocacy of colored people ( NAACP). And he supported the idea of giving Classical Education to the colored people so they could become respected lawyers, doctors, etc. Booker Washington believed that simple education, hard work, and basic job skills would make the place for the colored people.
