Becuase America had all this extra food, the prices of said food started to drop quite quickly. Then the farmers couldn't pay back the loans from the banks, and the banks and no money to give to people. This is how the Great Depression began. After a few years, Franklin D. Roosevelt stepped in with his "New Deal" plan. The Great Depression ended because of this plan.
