The answer to the first question:
"What are some of the best places to find art references?"
I've been drawing for a while, and I find that good references depend on what you're drawing, but if you like to draw people, like I do, I find references for people on Pinterest for one, but I also use real people as references (especially using my siblings :) )
A good way is to see how people work and practice anatomy and proportions, trust me, they are a BIG part of drawing, especially people!!
Hope this helped!! \(^u^\)
P.S. sorry I don't really paint, (cuz I'm bad at it) so I can't really answer that question (^w^')
In the image you can see the aerial screw, a vehicle invented by Leonardo Da Vinci in the fifteenth century.

What is seen in the image?

In the image you can see an aerial vehicle that rises with an upper propeller in the form of a spiral that, when turning, takes height.
This vehicle is called an aerial screw and was invented by the Italian artist and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci at the end of the 15th century, with this vehicle Da Vinci created a precedent for the operation of the helicopter that was inaugurated in the middle of the 19th century.
As seen in the image, this vehicle was intended to travel through the air with the help of a spiral fabric propeller. In addition, the body of the vehicle was made of wood and from there the propeller was rotated with the help of pulleys and ropes.

Answer: the Bible
The story from the Bible (The Book of Judith) revolves around Judith, a widow, who became upset with her fellow Jews for not trusting God to keep them from the Assyrians. She went to the camp of Holofernes, the enemy general with her loyal maidservant and pleased him by promising information on the Israelites. Judith gained his trust, took his head and saved Israel.
