What was the Articles of Confederation?

It was a written agreement made in 1781 giving the central government no coercive power over the states or their citizens.

Explanation:

Why did it fail?

It made the national government weak with no power to enforce laws. The central government could not collect taxes to fund any of their programs or operations. They couldn't even properly fund and maintain their military ultimately ending this agreement.

How did the Failure lead to the Constitution?

When Shay's rebellion happened it made it even more obvious that a stronger national government was needed. So in September 17, 1787 the constitution was written. It gave all americans rights and protection of life. It made our national government stronger with more power and limits.

The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. The Continental Congress had borrowed money to fight the Revolutionary War and could not repay their debts. States

had also fallen into debt and were raising taxes to pay off those debts
