When a country is governed by an absolute <u>monarch who has not been elected, such goverment violates the social contract principle</u> that states that the power of a country resides on its citizens who can grant it to political representatives elected through suffrage and would propose and implement policies on their behalf.

On the other hand, it is not guaranteed that a monarch that has not been elected, would govern taking into account the interests and needs of his citizens, as there is not any manner of withdrawing him from such power position.
